Anchor Bay

Anchor Bay is a picturesque inlet with beautiful green-blue clear water that is surrounded by rocky slopes, situated one kilometre west of the village of Mellieha in northern Malta. Even though Anchor Bay is a pretty bay it is mostly popular for Popeye Village. Anchor Bay is quite secluded and not a very popular swimming spot due to the bay’s rough nature. However, during the summer months Popeye Village has a lido with sun-beds and umbrellas for rent as well as a trampoline and water park in the sea for easier access. Anchor Bay is in fact a very popular dive site due to beautiful large caves and passageways accessible from a slope leading down to the bay and the inlets extensive marine life. The Scorpion Cave offers magnificent marine life such as morays, scorpion fish and groupers and is actually only completely submerged for the first few meters. Anchor Bay is also popular with local fishermen looking for a quiet spot to fish. Food stands, umbrella rentals, restrooms and watersport rentals are all available during summer from Popeye Village.
