Hondoq ir-Rummien

Hondoq ir-Rummien, meaning Pomegranate Moat in English, is located below Qala on the southern coast of Gozo. Hondoq ir-Rummien has a small, pretty sandy and pebbly beach that is popular with the Gozitans and it is not hard to understand why. The sea at Hondoq ir-Rummien beach is crystal clear and has a stunning azure colour. There are small caves at water level making this cove a popular diving and snorkelling spot as well. Swimming is also available from the rocky parts and there is access to the sea from bathing ladders. Hondoq ir-Rummien bay also has a lovely view over Comino and a beautiful coastline dotted with traditional saltpans, which are still being used. Hondoq ir-Rummien beach and its lovely coastal area is one of the few remaining tracts of open countryside left in Malta, so a countryside walk is recommended. This area also has the cleanest waters in Malta and Gozo. Hondoq ir-Rummien beach is accessed through the village of Qala.
